About us

**Due to the Covid-19 outbreak we are shut for the remainder of 2021 and January 2022.  We are hoping to open February 2022. All tickets purchased for events during this time can be fully refunded or used to carry over to the new dates. Email us if you require more information. We will update you as soon as we know anything**.

Hideaways is based in Chelmsfords’ city centre and has played host to a plethora of artists such as Toploader, Republica, Johnny Wilson, The Artful Dodger, Leeroy Thornhill, Matt Cardles band Seven Summers and many top end Tribute acts and club nights. We also put on comedy nights and the venue can be used for private hire.

Hideaways joined forces with The Chelmsford Social Club in 2017 to save the building and to bring more live music to the city. It officially opened its doors January 2019. The venue can hold 600 people standing and can also be transformed into a seated venue. It has a large bar, a kitchen and thanks to funding from the Arts Council, upgraded the electrics, PA and lighting rig. We upgraded the Front of house PA system consisting of L’Acoustics A15 focus over KS21 subs powered by L’Acoustics flagship LA12X DSP amplifier. (We kept the original 1970’s speakers on the wall to show the venues journey). We have also upgraded our stage monitoring system to give the bands 6 mixes of 15” RCF powered monitor wedges. Allen & Heath take care of FOH and Monitoring duties with the SQ6 48 channel digital mixing desk with the GX4816 96khz stage box. All mics and stands have been upgraded so we are now fully tour rider friendly! There is a backstage green room, and the all important backstage toilet.

There are plenty of hotels nearby and our friends at The County Hotel are the guys to go to for touring acts needing to stay over for the night. Obviously there are plenty of food joints around on Bond street and the train station is only 10 mins walk away, but we also have a brand new kitchen and can offer in-house catering.

The council have re-opened an old direct pathway that was so overgrown, so as you walk over the bridge from Bond Street you can turn left just after the footbridge and come around that way or use the entrance through the Tesco car park. Be careful of the passing car park traffic. We also have our own car park that can accommodate free parking after 18:30 just off Springfield Rd. The entrance is shared with the Tesco delivery entrance just off of Springfield Road.

We are able to accommodate touring acts that will require their own desired sound and lighting rigs etc. We also have an external 63amp single phase power supply for tour buses (you will require your own jumpers / cable to use this) and can accommodate overnight parking for artists.

For any disabled customers needing assistance or seats on any of our shows please contact us through the website and we will be happy to make your visit an enjoyable one.
